I have been doing fairly well with cardio - managing 3-4 times a week for 45 - 60 minutes each...so I decided to add back weights. It helps that the Y now has a program called fitlinxx which helps you with your weights and tracks all your workouts. I got set up on the program yesterday.
All the weight machines have the screen at them and you log in and do your programmed exercises - it stores your weight, seat positions, upper and lower range of motions and helps you with timing of the reps. It is sort of like having a trainer but does nothing for your form.
I am SO SORE today from starting back. I did 1 set of 12 reps on everything - upper and lower since we had to do the set up.
It is motivating though - love tracking stuff...it got me motivated and I got up at 6:30 this am to do my cardio at home....well, that and the fact that Ryan had me up already...he is off on his sleep lately. He missed nap yesterday then went to bed at 8:30pm and was up a couple of times until 11:30 and then up at 6 this morning....will have to get back on track cause mommy needs her sleep!!
Wish me luck. I STILL have 60lbs to lose! Need to start adopting healthier eating again...it's back on!

Day 2 MC - mid afternoon
Well..that's it - I am not on the fast any longer...for a ton of reasons.
This morning, I drank the proper SWF and got it all down but felt it in my stomach VERY HEAVY. About 30 minutes later it worked very effectively (so I highly recommend it if you ever need a nice laxative to get things going). But, while I was on the toilet, I began to vomit up the salt mixture - and like most things, it was not as pleasant coming up as it was going down and that is really saying something. I know that it isn't intended to cleanse in that direction.
So, then I felt bad and had a head ache and burning in my chest and throat from the salt mixed with acid. And I had to leave to go to my chiro apt and massage, so I couldn't get my lemonade down. When I got home, I felt better and more stable in the tummy, but when I tried to drink lemonade, I gagged. So, I had to take Ethan back to the chiro (long story, but he fell down our stairs this morning). Took him and he is fine and then had to take Ashley and both boys to my dr apt - follow up from two weeks ago.
My nodes are still swollen. The dr said he has ruled out all obvious causes but it is very abnormal that they would still be so swollen...so, he referred me to a hematologist (blood dr). I am going to see the same practice that both mom and dad were/are at. I called to get a new patient visit with my dad's doctor and am waiting on a call back.
My dr said it could be nothing, but he wants to be sure. Not getting worried yet.
Bottom line, with all of today's events....I decided to stop the cleanse. I had a small sandwich and feel stuffed! I don't feel healthy with it...my body is fighting it and maybe that is normal...but I want to feel strong and healthy and be able to work out again. and not be so tired and irritable with the kids. So, maybe I will try it again later, but for now it isn't working.
Don't think too badly of me (I am already doing it enough for all of us)....but I know it is right.

MC Day 1 - end
Thank G-d this day is over! I don't know how people do this. I am tired, cranky, and sick of that drink already. I hope to wake up tomorrow with a new outlook.
I know I have a lot of toxins to get out AND a lot of bad habits to unfurl, so it ain't going to be easy...but still. It would be so much easier without the kids...but then I would be dealing with a workplace. The ordeal with my tires today didn't help. I was there for over 2 hours...getting 2 new tires!
I also know a big mistake I made today and why I made it. I didn't have enough of the lemonade drink. I only got in 4.5 and you are suppose to have a minimum of 6 and can have more if you need them....the timing and not liking them....so, I got hungry and desperate. If I were having more, I might feel better and more satisfied.
I also found out (on the forums) that I made a mistake with the salt water. I can drink 1/2 the serving if I need (so 16oz rather than 32oz), but it has to be the right ratio - so 1 tsp per 16oz or the salt and water will separate and the salt will be absorbed in the body...something about the exact mixture of the right amounts binds it together in your body and then it acts as a cleansing agent.....that explains why it never did anything for me this morning.
I have only 'eliminated' two more times today and nothing major...but I need to do the salt water flush (SWF) properly in the am and am about to drink my sm tea (SMT). I will also try to do the lemonade drink properly tomorrow.
All in all, a rough day and I don't think I did very well with doing it to the T....but it was my first day and a good practice run. I will do better tomorrow. If I can bear it, I might tack on a day at the end to make up for my non-productive day today.

Day 1 MC - lunchtime
Well it's lunch time. Feeling a little hungry but not much - and it is time for another drink - took me from 9:30-10:30 to drink the last one :) It was weird...not horrible, but spicy because of the pepper but also sweet cause of the syrup.
I only got in half of my salt drink - 2 cups with 1/2tsp salt. I didn't want to push it too much. But I seem pretty stable...have only 'eliminated' once more and just a little...and still (knock on wood) no cramping or anything.
I don't feel great today, but that started yesterday though. I had a scratchy throat all day and fatigued (attributed it to getting up at 4:30 and all the stress of the day), but maybe I am fighting something off...who knows.
I think the boys and I will head out to get my tire taken care of....I feel safe being away from home for now. I will take my next lemondae drink on the road with me :) and pick up something not too tempting for the boys.

Day 1 MC - AM
I took my SM tea last night as planned. It tasted fine really - pretty bland, but very drinkable (with nothing in it of course).
Before bed, I had a non-routine 'elimination', but it was fine - not crampy or gassy or anything like that like some people describe online - yet.
This morning, first thing had another non-routine 'elimination' after waking up at 8:30am (love it when the boys sleep in)...I had set my alarm to get up and work out at 6am, but decided to have my rest for today until I know what I will get. David was up and out of the house by 4am!
Now, I am drinking my salt water. It isn't so nice...salty warm water - yum :) Someone online described it as chicken soup broth without the chicken part and that is what it's like. It is pretty hard to get down.
I am a bit concerned that a little of the tea alone had such an effect on me...but the timing isn't great from a cycle standpoint as I am suppose to be visited by george this week at some point (my first full cycle off bc pills so it is a bit unpredictible) and that always has a cleansing effect of its own in the same way...so, because of all that...I have decided to go half strength on the salt for today. I am only doing 1tsp and it calls for 2tsp.
I don't have a 1QT container, so I now am working on 2 cups of water and 1/2tsp salt and can't get through that yet. Guess I will need to chug it!
Today is a light day for us with nothing mandatory on the schedule - need to get my flat tire patched/replaced and visit dad, but if we have to stay close to home we can do that too. Will keep you posted.
Almost forgot, I weighed this morning, as a beginning cleanse weight and it was 2lbs less than what I weighed on Friday...so maybe that number was off a bit...still in the scale of gaining 18 or 20 HARD LOST lbs back - not much difference...but better than the other direction.
Also, feeling a bit hungry this am - I am always most hungry for breakfast and in the afternoon (12-4) - those are my feeding times! Which the afternoon part makes more sense now that I read the MC book because he says that from Midnight - noon the body detoxes and from noon - midnight it rebuilds (needs food), and he recommends working with that natural pattern and having a light breakfast of just fresh juice so as to not disrupt the cleaning. But that makes sense why I am so hungry in the re-building time.
Oh, I found a great forum for the cleanse. Apparently, the book is available via pdf, but I already paid the $6 and bought it...it is very thin.

Starting Detox
I am preparing for the cleanse tonight. The only prep is to drink the smooth move tea the night before. Then 'officially' start tomorrow morning. Wish me luck! VERY excited and nervous. I hope it goes well. I want to feel better! Wondering what I am getting myself into after watching a few videos on YouTube!!!
David is headed out of town in the am, so the timing is good
I also had my 'last' meal and diet coke - maybe forever on the latter?!?

Desperate Times call for....
I haven't gotten on the scale for 5-6 months now...with all that has been going on.
Over that time, I have barely gotten in 1 workout a week and that coupled with the emotional eating AND the stress hormones...well that's a trifecta for disaster.
I had through EXTREME EFFORT, lost 20lbs over a year and a half - a full 18 months - well in the past 6 months, I have managed to gain it back! I can't believe it, but I got on the scale this weekend...fully expecting to see a gain, but not knowing how bad it would be and I am back up almost 20lbs!
I am bummed, but ready and able to do something about it. I have decided to get back on track with my exercise starting with cardio - I managed to do 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday and today - and when I am in a pattern with cardio (2-3 weeks) then I will add back in weight training.
In the meantime, to get a kickstart and to help end my cravings for the big baddies (softdrinks, refined sugar, fatty foods...), I have decided to do a *gulp* cleanse.
I am going to try the Master Cleanse AKA the lemonade cleanse. It seems to make the most sense, has been around for decades and has some huge supporters that do it regularly and swear by it online. I am nervous...
It involves drinking only a special lemon drink mixture that doesn't sound too appetizing and NO FOOD for at least 10 days! AND there is lots of, well no pretty way to say it, "elimination of bad waste"....But the possible results - more energy, better health, etc make it sound worthwhile to try...and the cost is relatively low compared to some cleanses on the market - you can buy all the ingredients at a specialy grocery store.
So, I will use this blog to chronicle my cleanse....maybe you will decide to try it - or not. If you have the stomach - follow along - I can promise you I will spare no details and it won't be pretty.
