New Challenge
I know I haven't posted in a while, but I am still here - still fighting the fight. Still seeing my trainer 3 times a week (a little off because of Thanksgiving)....which by the way, I didn't gain anything over that holiday!

Progress Part II?
I haven't weighed in in quite a while...actually since the last time since my trainer weigh-in...it was just bringing me down too much. I wanted to focus on just doing what I needed....and I have. I think I may have made some progress. I have been having people comment alot in the past couple of days...so maybe it is catching up a bit. I did go shopping and bought a smaller size as well...those things are always nice!
This week - the usual, training on M/W/F and lots of cardio every day as well. I am going to try to make it to the Zumba (high energy 'dance' aerobic class) at the Y on Tuesday am. The weather has been so nice that we have been walking alot, but it is suppose to get cold later this week (not sure how cold yet).
Just plugging along here!

Progress?
I weighed this weekend after now weighing for 2 weeks - I needed a break from the scale as it was really getting to me. Actually, not sure of the timing but I haven't weighed since my last official weigh-in with my trainer. It just really affected my mood and motivation more than I was comfortable with. So, I have just been trucking along and felt it was time to get on the scale.
I don't know what to think...the scale isn't moving at all! BUT, I feel leaner, stronger, healthier and my clothes totally fit differently....I am down at least one size (but I haven't really tried on any clothes lately).
I guess I am ok with it all...bottom line, I am getting enough to keep going....knowing that eventually, my body, my fat and the scale will have to catch up!

Weekly Workout Report
I didn't get in a 'real' workout on Saturday, but we were going non-stop....soccer in the morning (which is pretty physical chasing after both boys)...then a bit of shopping at Target...then healthy leftovers for lunch...then the GA game (which admittedly, not too active)...then off to the neighbors for our pumpkin party.
Sunday - didn't make it to the Y, but did get in 45 minutes on the treadmill during Ryan's nap.
Plans for the week:
Monday - 10-11 cardio (either cardio tennis or cardio at the Y) then 11:30 is my training session with Carol, the new trainer at my training place...I worked out with her for the first time last Monday and loved it! Then tennis lesson at 6:30-7:30pm with Amanda
Tuesday - 9:30-10:30 I am meeting neighbors for a Zumba (a cardio dance class) at the Y - a little nervous about this one as I am not a very good or coordinated dancer but this class and instructor get rave reviews!
Wednesday - 11-12 cardio at the Y then my training session with Paul at 12:30 (oh and if you can count it, the walking we will do trick or treating - my neighborhood is pretty hilly!)
Thursday - We may do a 3 mile maze during the day but no formal workout planned....I may try to do cardio at home in the early am, but we will see how the week goes
Friday - 11 is my training session and then an hour of cardio
If all goes according to plan, I will get lots of activity in this week.

Having a tough week
I am working out very well this week. I have my training sessions on M/W/F and that has been perfect. I am just the right amount of sore to know I worked out properly but not too much to where I can't do anything the next day.
My cardio is good as well - 1 hour on M, 30 min on Tu, 1 hour on W, 50 min on Th
I am just really tired and bummed this week though. I am not sleeping well - well, not in the traditional sense - I sleep wonderfully once I finally lay down, but I feel like I have so much that *needs* to be done that I can't let myself go to bed at night (especially with David out of town). I have been up until about 2am every night this week just doing laundry, food prep, etc. It is just getting to me and I know better...every day, I say, I am going to go to bed early tonight right after I put the boys down...and then I think well just after I do this...and then this...then it is 2am.
The eating isn't going well either....I feel like someone else is controlling me like a puppet sometimes. I *know* what I need to do, not do, eat, not eat and I know that I [in theory] control that, but it isn't working out that way. I am not even having cravings and am not particularly hungry - just eating all the wrong things...no reason at all!
of course, then I beat myself up about it...I feel like I am letting myself off the hook if I say, oh well, what's done is done and let's just move forward better. I don't want to let myself off to easily because I know that I am the one and only person that controls what and how much goes into my mouth....so, what is another explaination for WHY, WHY, WHY??? I ask myself everytime it happens - now why did I just do/eat that? I can't figure it out....I am smart and in control on all other areas of my life....and I am generally all about 'self accountability' and being the result of all your decisions....but I am just lost on this.
Sorry for the rant....this journey isn't going to be quick or easy or all positive for that matter.
I just have to get my eating in line or I will never see that scale move!

Boston Weekend and Activity for week of 10-22
We had an active weekend in Boston - wish I had taken my pedometer but we walked miles and miles on Saturday. Of course, we didn't eat so well all weekend especially with the lack of sleep, but I don't think we totally blew it either.
Back home now...I have training sessions scheduled for M/W/F and should get my cardio in those days....not so sure about Tu/Th - I will try to make it to the Y, but I have a dentist and a chiro apt on Tuesday and my mom is here and we are celebrating my brother's birthday on Thursday...but I am going to do my best. And to get back on track eating as well.
Goal for the week:
Water
Plan meals and stick to my eating plan

Activity & Goals for the week
Today was a great start to the week - I did cardio tennis from 10-11am at the PGA store then went to the Y for some weights and another 20 minutes of cardio then back to the PGA store tonight for my lesson which was serving. I feel pretty good, but my right arm is killing me from all the tennis :)
For the rest of the week:
Tuesday; I plan to get an hour of cardio in either early am before the boys wake up or later am at the Y although my mom is coming over so I suppose I can do almost anything.
Wednesday; I have a training session at 11:30am and will likely get my hour of cardio in after that before picking the boys up at school.
Thursday; I have a training session at 11:30am but will have to either get up early or fit in a trip to the Y with all the packing as I plan to leave the boys with David (he is working from home)
Friday - Sunday; we will be in Boston and no specific 'work outs' planned but we are going to be walking a ton and hiking maybe even biking...so, no shortage of working out!
If it all works out, then it will be a pretty darn good week activity-wise...and the more active I am the less opportunity to eat!
Goals for the week:
Tons of water

My 1st 5K
David and I did a 5K on Saturday morning for Make A Wish. It was my first ever. It was perfect - the weather was great - a bit cold in the beginning, but it warmed up quickly...and it was a very casual run/walk. David did very well, running it in about 26 minutes - it took me just over 40 minutes which is still really good especially since I don't normally run.
I think we are going to try to do a 5K on a regular basis. All part of my 'get active' campaign. I want our whole family to be active with lots of physical hobbies...we are also still shopping for bikes.
I am also trying out tennis. I have a class on Monday nights with Amanda...and I am going to add in some free cardio tennis classes as well.
I also think on of the moms from Ethan (and Ryan's - she has a daughter in each of the boys's classes) and I are going to take some golf lessons together...our husbands both play golf and it would be something fun that we have both always wanted to try.

A lot to lose
It is really tough for me to 'put it all out there'...I mean it is no secret that I have some extra pounds on me or that I want to lose some weight - 1/2 of the population is in the same boat as I am (and another 30% or so are just ignorant to the fact)...regardless, it is a big step for me to lay it out so openly for the world to see.
I really have a lot to lose - face, credibility, support, motivation...but most importantly pounds - very unhealthy, unsightly pounds of pure fat...and not the good fat that you want to round out your lip Angelina Jolie style...
My counter reminds me of how far I have to go - 38lbs left to lose and only 6 gone to date (actually it is more - I had lost about another 10 since earlier this year when I started on my own - this counter is just for my progress since I started my training). But, I am feeling motivated now. If not now, when! You have to start somewhere to end up anywhere and even the longest journey begins with the first small step. I am here, now about to scale a mountain...it won't happen fast, but it will happen.
I am feeling optimistic today and I know those feelings will inevitably wane in the coming weeks and months - or more ebb and flow - as life, emotions, hormones, cravings, parties, holidays, etc get in my way...but I hope to fortify myself and my resolve so that I can weather those storms. - more on my game plan in future posts...off to bed now, because a tired Angela is a hungry Angela!

Launch of my new blog
I decided to create a new blog solely for the purpose of charting my journey to a new, healthier me....we are joining the programming already in progress...meaning I have already been at this for a good 3 months now (well technically for my entire adult life). I have made some decent progress but I have quite a ways to go. I will be including a ticker to keep track of my progress. Please let me know by posting a comment if you are following along at home - I can use all the workout buddies and eating buddies that I can get. Here goes!
